Amy Larsen

My name is Amy Larsen.  I am currently a second grade teacher at Addison Elementary in Marietta, Georgia.  I am currently looking for a teaching position in West Michigan.    I am  thrilled to be getting married this fall and moving in June back to my home state.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in English and Journalism, a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, and recently earned my Gifted Education Endorsement in Georgia.  I currently hold teaching certificates in Michigan, North Carolina, and Georgia. I have  over 8 years of classroom experience and I have a striong desire to provide all students with meaningful and rigorous education My teaching career has been geared toward the empowerment of elementary school children.  I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help them blossom into well-rounded, responsible, and successful individuals.  Throughout the course of my career, I have had wonderful opportunities to teach diverse groups of students, including those with learning disabilities, those who performed at grade level, and those who were gifted/exceptional.  As a result, I became skilled at designing creative and stimulating lesson plans, which accommodate multiple intelligences, bring hands-on approach to learning, and keep students interested and focused.

My greatest strengths include inspiring and motivating students.  I actively engage their minds by incorporating a variety of manipulatives, cooperative-learning projects, and performance-based activities.  Using backwards design, I tailor my lesson plans to meet students’ diverse interests, as well as demonstrate direct connections between the classroom and everyday life.  Furthermore, I hold student-led conferences through each school year to promote participation in the educational process, reinforce education at home and boost students’ self-confidence and self-esteem.
